UGH I JUST LIKE. I MEAN I SHIP THEM BECAUSE I SHIP PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE IN THIS MOVIE WITH PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS MOVIE, BUT MORE THAN THAT I JUST, GOD, THE PARALLELS BETWEEN THE WAY BRUCE THINKS OF THE HULK AND THE WAY TONY THINKS OF HIMSELF JUST KILL ME
and i just, i mean i know this is just my screaming tony stark obsession and whatever but JESUS CHRIST, because you know there are so many scenes in IM2 where tony is staring at himself in the mirror, looking at the blood poisoning winding its way out over his heart, but the only time he meets his own eyes is when he’s saying “you got any other bad ideas?” because tony stark hates to look himself in the face, tony stark would rather tell the world he’s iron man a thousand times over than be who his is and ahhhhhhh
and of course bruce can’t meet the hulk’s eyes at all, which is so much of what his arc is about in this film, really—so much of bruce’s storyline is about how he comes to look the reality of the hulk in the face, is about his acceptance of that anger, and i mean he literally CALLS THE HULK THE OTHER GUY because it’s easier to think of him as an entirely separate person than as part of bruce he can’t control
AND THEN THERE’S THAT SCENE WHERE IT’S BRUCE AND TONY AND THIS GLASS BETWEEN THEM AND THEY’RE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER WHICH IS SO MUCH EASIER THAN LOOKING AT THEMSELVES AND I KNOW I’M READING TOO MUCH INTO THIS BUT I DON’T CARE, BECAUSE THE THING ABOUT TONY AND BRUCE AND THEIR DUAL NATURES IS THAT IT’S SO RARE FOR EITHER OF THEM TO BE ABLE TO CONFRONT THOSE NATURES AND SO THEY DO IT THROUGH EACH OTHER AND I JUST CAN’T HANDLE IT AT ALL
